Case Study

Three portals, one coherent
lending platform.

A crypto-backed lending platform needed its entire customer-facing product suite built from the ground up. We designed and built all three — a borrower portal, a trading portal, and a partner API — on one shared foundation.

Overview

Crypto-backed lending, reimagined

Our client runs a lending platform where customers borrow cash against their cryptocurrency holdings instead of selling them. The lending model and the market were theirs. What they needed was an engineering partner to build the entire customer-facing product suite from scratch.

We designed and built three interconnected products: a Borrower Portal for loan origination and repayment, a Trading Portal for managing crypto collateral, and a Partner API for third-party integrations. Each served a different audience, and all three had to feel like one platform.

The Challenge

Three products. One platform.

Three applications, three very different user flows, one shared design language. The Borrower Portal handled sensitive financial operations. The Trading Portal ran on live market data. The Partner API needed documentation and developer tooling good enough for an outside team to build against without hand-holding.

Security shaped every decision. Every transaction moved real cryptocurrency collateral, so the platform had to hold up under scrutiny while staying approachable for customers who had never touched a trading interface.

Borrower Portal

Loan application, collateral management, payment tracking, and account dashboard for borrowers using crypto as collateral.

Trading Portal

Real-time cryptocurrency trading interface with live market data, order management, and portfolio analytics.

Partner API

RESTful API enabling third-party integrations with comprehensive documentation, authentication, and rate limiting.

The Solution

Unified architecture, cohesive experience

We built the frontend in React and TypeScript, establishing a shared component library and design system that kept all three products visually and behaviorally consistent. The backend ran on Node.js with a REST API architecture deployed to AWS.

Anything needed more than once was built once. Authentication, notifications, and common UI patterns lived in the shared library, so an improvement in one product landed in all three.

Shared Design System

A unified component library ensuring visual consistency across all three products while enabling rapid development of new features.

Security-First

Multi-layer authentication, encrypted data transport, and rigorous input validation to protect high-value cryptocurrency transactions.

Real-Time Data

WebSocket connections for live market data, optimistic UI updates, and intelligent caching for a responsive trading experience.

The Results

Three products. One foundation.

3 Products Shipped
1 Shared Design System
Real-Time Market Data & Order Flow
Public Documented Partner API

All three products went live. Because they sat on one component library, features and fixes shipped across the whole suite in a single cycle instead of being rebuilt three times — and the partner API opened the platform to integrations the client no longer had to build themselves.

3 products · 1 experience

A borrower portal, a trading portal, and a partner API — three distinct surfaces, built on one shared component library and a single design system.
